Gurmat & Islam

Isnโ€™t bowing to a โ€˜Bookโ€™ the same as idol worship? What makes you different to Hindus?

As for the argument that bowing to Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee is idol worship, I would ask, what is idol worship? Bowing to a stone that can teach nothing is idol worship. A Sikh prostrates to God alone. Satguru Sri Granth Sahib jee is the โ€˜Spoken revealed Wordโ€™ of God.

The Guru Granth Sahib has multiple writers. How can it be claimed to be a revelation unlike the Quran?

Islam teaches that God sends prophets to the nations, in different times and different places, to communicate His message. Since the beginning of time, Islam believes God has sent His guidance through these chosen people. They were human beings who walked among their people and taught them about faith in One Almighty God, and how to walk on the path of righteousness.

The Quran says that:

Was Guru Nanak a Muslim?

Guru Nanak Sahib Ji is the Perfect True Guru who came to spread Light (enlightenment) in the world clouded with darkness (ignorance). The Hindus revered Guru Nanak as "Guru", Muslims revered Guru Nanak as "Peer" & "Baba", and Buddhists revere Guru Nanak as the 8th incarnation of Buddha. No other Prophet or founder of any the of the world religions has been claimed to belong to another religious community. Being Sikhs we should be proud that the whole world claims Guru Nanak is theirs.
